Heavent Industrial Exhaust Ventilation Software:

Dilution
an included dilution ventilation program included in Heavent

Purpose:

Dilution aids in estimating concentrations that will occur after given periods of time as contaminant is released or purged. This is useful both for confined space entry calculations and for other dilution ventilation cases.

Important caveats:

Note that Dilution relies on the appropriate use of the "one-cell mass balance" model and on your input of accurate information. Neither is likely to be highly reliable, so the output of the program should be used with care and skepticism. The program assumes a single, constant mixing factor for a space and makes many of other common assumptions about mixing and contaminant removal that may be misleading in many real world cases.

Because it relies on the one-cell mass balance model, the program cannot predict at all the effects of transfers or movement from one volume to another. For example, concentrations predicted for a single volume could be wildly inaccurate if the volume has substantial air exchange with an adjacent volume.
